Esta is passionate about aging with grace through health. Here's what she has to say:
My name is Esta McIntyre, and I am the founder of My Health Studio in Westlake Village… a wonderful 15 year old boutique fitness and wellness studio offering the finest in group, semi-private and private fitness, CPR and wellness education. I have made it my mission to focus on outcomes instead of merely activities. It is my calling to facilitate change in peoples’ lives in a positive and big way. I hear from many potential clients that “they walk” or “go to the gym” a few times a week. But these are activities that may or may not produce long-term improvement in health. Until you develop a custom fitness blueprint, driven by a compelling dream, you’ll find it difficult to stay on course. This is what my program will provide for you. I believe that when we create loving and positive impact – even on a grass roots level, we can create unbeatable momentum.
Randi is full of energy and just loves our fitness community. In Randi’s words:
I began my wellness journey after working long hours running my own creative business. I knew I needed a change. While I was never the “gym type,” I had it in my mind that it would be fun to work at a fitness facility. Through the persistence of My Health Studio’s owner, Esta McIntyre, I decided to try a class. From that day on, my life would not be the same. After only a few weeks of exercise, Esta observed that my heart rate was elevated and slow to cool down. She suggested that I go see a cardiologist to make sure everything checked out. Unfortunately there was a problem. I had a heart attack on August 6th, 2018 and was hospitalized. I never thought this could happen to me; I thought I was healthy. I assumed that walking the dog or pacing on the treadmill was sufficient, but it was not. That first class at My Health Studio changed my life and now I want to help do the same for others. I am passionate about helping you reach your fitness goals!
My name is Scott McIntyre, and I am an Emergency Medical Technicial, Basic Life Support Instructor, and Certified Personal Trainer (emphasizing emergency fitness). I am trained in Tactical Combat Casualty Care and Canine Casualty Care, and have been an EMT and BLS Instructor for over 18 years. During various trainings and deployments I have seen the importance of maintaining and improving the ability to move and function around and through many types of obstacles and conditions. The classic commercial, ”I’ve fallen and I can’t get up” has always troubled me. Someone in a weakened condition, whether because of age or infirmity, places an extra burden on family and responders in an emergency. The emotional and physical stress it places on the individual who has fallen or is weakened is scary at best. My focus as a NASM Certified Personal Trainer is Emergency Fitness. The ability to move the body effectively during and after an emergency situation is vital for anyone at any age. Stability, flexibility, upper body strength and grip strength are key components to dealing with events we may be faced with during our lifetime.
In each of four sessions, we’ll spend a full hour evaluating your personal training needs including (but not limited to) body fat assessment, muscle mass, BMI, balance, strength, endurance and physical activity readiness. This step is essential in helping to create a program that will be safe, effective and efficient. Once your fitness level has been established, we will begin with reasonable, action-oriented goals, and customize a program resulting in your personal conditioning formula. It’s a great opportunity for us to get to know one another!
Once your personal conditioning formula has been determined, we will implement a balanced, continuing program that focuses on your goals. In each session, we will follow up on other lifestyle changes such as diet, stress reduction, and energy enhancement. Your exercise program may include elements of traditional aerobic, strength and flexibility programming, as well as functional fitness training, Pilates, fitball training, plyometrics, along with balance movements. Last, but not least, we are the home of the EFI Gravity Trainer – an amazing yet simple piece of equipment that allows us to minimize the impact of jumping, squatting and incorporating resistance conditioning into your life.
